Municipal Advocacy

The Chamber works closely with the City in business-related matters. From signage issues to the Villeneuve road and the Perron District, the St. Albert and District Chamber of Commerce ensures that the voice of business is heard in our home community.

Municipal Utility Corp
During a public hearing on the city’s proposed municipal utility corporation (MUC) on Monday (December 2, 2019), Chamber Chair Mark Stoneleigh spoke on behalf of the business community to city council. Although the Chamber commends the city for being proactive and recognizing the need to create additional sources of revenue for the future success of our city, it does have many questions regarding the proposed MUC. Municipal Development Plan
The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is one of the most important guiding documents for our city as it directs where and how growth should happen while reflecting the values and aspirations of our community. The Chamber has been proud to be an active member of the Project Champion Team as we work to ensure our city’s growth will provide strong opportunities for our current and future businesses. In June we hosted a business focus roundtable discussion with 20 bright, young business leaders who shared their vision of how they would like to see commerce opportunities develop over the next 30 to 40 years.
